The above image of the a mosiac of the Immaculate Conception is licensed by the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, for the expressed use of the Arizona Rosary Celebration 2012. Any duplication is not authorized for any other purpose without the expressed permission of the Knights of Columbus.

The Immaculate Conception is a mosaic copy of the painting La Purissima Bionda by Murillo, the "inventor" of the composition of the Immaculate Conception as we know of today. This mosaic is the gift of Popes Benedict XV and Pius XI. It contains approximately 35,000 pieces of natural color stone reflecting some 27,000 hues and tints. The mosaic tesserae were ground to a smooth flat surface to resemble a painting rather than a mosaic. The mosaic is a bit larger than the original painting and it weighs more than three tons. Taking five years to complete, The Immaculate Conception mosaic was blessed and dedicated on November 12, 1930 (2009, National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception).

The Arizona Rosary Celebration is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations may be tax deductible.

Arizona Rosary Celebration

For the past 37 years the Diocese of Phoenix has held an annual gathering of the faithful that became one of the largest annual public Rosary celebrations in the United States. Last year, the tradition changed as we were blessed this with the opportunity to hold a Rosary celebration in Tucson as well as in Phoenix. With this expansion, Rosary Sunday was renamed the "Arizona Rosary Celebration" and will be held each year in both Tucson and in Phoenix. Together, these two wonderful events honor our Lady. In recognition of the event's name change, we have launched this website: so that all of the information for the two beautiful days of the Arizona Rosary Celebration can be found in one convenient website.

This major celebration in honor of Our Lady is sponsored by the Arizona Knights of Columbus and held in conjunction with the Dioceses of Tucson and Phoenix. Invitations to participate are being extended to all parishes and groups in each diocese.

Your participation and support is desired and very much needed in helping honor our Blessed Mother. We seek her special protection and powerful intercession! Mark your calendars and inform and remind your family and friends. Pass the word passionately and often.
